Timeline of Active Players

This page documents the generational flow of active players on MoleCraft SMP, starting from the server's earliest days through the present. It helps newcomers understand who was playing when, how the community evolved over time, and why certain nations, factions, and storylines emerged in their current form.

How to Read This Diagram

The diagram maps each generation as a vertical stack of player names ordered from oldest to newest join date. Each generation represents a roughly 2–3 month period of active participation — players typically arrive during one window, become involved in nation-building, then either transition into new roles (leadership, independents, retired) or leave the scene entirely.

Generations Overview

Generation Approximate Period Notes
Generation 0 September 2025 The original cohort. Arrived around The Great Plague event. Includes many of the server's founders and earliest builders.
Generation 1 October – December 2025 Late-summer arrivals who joined as the first nations began formalizing. Many went on to found or lead major states.
Generation 2 January – February 2026 A smaller wave; several players from this group entered through independent channels before settling into nations or becoming spectators.
Generation 3 March – April 2026 Introduced key figures like Mizerly Veyrath and CT (Oswin), whose leadership would shape the Age of First Banners.
Generation 4 May – June 2026 Larger influx including Noxities, Jack, and others who helped expand both player count and diplomatic complexity.
Generation 5 July – August 2026 The newest recorded generation as of this update. Still growing; includes newer residents and recent arrivals.
Generation 6 Ongoing In-progress — captures the most recent arrivals since late August 2026.

Note:

Player movements are not rigid — members of different generations may overlap significantly, play simultaneously, or re-enter at later dates. A generation primarily indicates the window of initial arrival for a cluster of active participants.

Milestones & Markers

Certain events anchor the timeline outside of pure generation boundaries:

  • Server Publicly Opens — The official launch moment after which players could join freely. Marked at the top of the diagram.
  • The Great Plague — The foundational crisis that shaped the earliest era of interaction between players. Serves as the starting point of the generational model.
  • Server Anniversary — Celebrated in September 2026, marking one full year since the original public opening. Appears near the far right of the diagram as an upcoming milestone.

Why Track Generations?

Understanding who played when provides important context:

  • Nation lineages — Nations like Velkarin, Barsus, High Roost, and the Blue Sultanate all trace their origins back to specific generations, each bringing different ideas about governance, diplomacy, and role-play culture.
  • Relationships & rivalries — Historical conflicts (the Order of Barsus conflict, Doom and Despair vassalization, the Vagabonds' dormancy) make more sense when you know which players were leading at the time.
  • Summit evolution — Every World Summit Meeting had its own attendee roster reflecting who was active during that particular generation window. See World Summit Meeting Minutes for full records.
  • The Great Plague era — Events that occurred during this foundational period still influence server conventions and expectations today.

Key Terms Used in the Diagram

  • Potentate — The ruler or head of state of a nation
  • Representative — An appointed speaker/voter for a nation at summits (not necessarily the leader)
  • Spectator — Someone who participates but has chosen to remain outside national affiliation
  • Independent — An active player unaffiliated with any nation; often building early bases or mediating between nations
  • Generation 6 — Currently being added to the diagram as new players arrive
