Getting Started

🧭 Welcome to the Server!

Before jumping into the world, please read through this post. It'll walk you through getting set up on Discord, joining the server for the first time, and getting your in-game permissions.

Info

If you haven't joined the Discord yet, Click Here before reading the rest of the guide!

1️⃣ Read the Rules

Make sure you understand the server rules before joining or posting your introduction.

2️⃣ Post Your Introduction

Post in the #introductions channel on Discord and include:

  • Your timezone
  • Your Minecraft username
  • A statement confirming you've read and agree to the server rules
  • Share something about you, the human (hobbies, playstyle, favorite builds, etc.)

3️⃣ Wait for Acknowledgment

A @Moderator or @Mole People will respond to your introduction and get your Discord roles set up. Once that's done, you'll receive instructions for joining the Minecraft server.

4️⃣ Joining for the First Time

When you're ready to join the world for the first time, tag @Mole People in #general to let us know you're coming! A member of the Mole People will need to be available in-game to get you started and move you through your initial permissions.

🌱 Your First Day on MoleCraft

New players don't receive full building permissions immediately. You'll move through a short onboarding process while you get acquainted with the server.

πŸ‘€ Visitor Mode

You'll initially join in Visitor Mode. You can look around, but you won't be able to build, break, or interact with the world yet. One of the @Mole People will meet you, get you situated, and give you a tour. After that, they'll move you onto Exploration permissions.

πŸ—ΊοΈ Exploration Permissions

Now you're free to start exploring!

You'll be able to:

  • Place blocks
  • Attack mobs
  • Use doors, buttons, switches, and similar interactions
  • Use the teleportation room to travel around the server

You will not be able to break blocks or open chests and other containers yet. Use this time to travel around, see what people have built, get a feel for the world, and start looking for somewhere you'd like to settle. The teleportation room can take you to various locations around MoleCraft to help you explore.

There is no rush to choose a base location. Take some time and find somewhere you actually want to build!

🌎 Choosing Where To Build

As you explore, keep our world-trimming boundaries in mind when choosing a permanent build location.

🏑 Within 10k of 0, 0

New players should build within 10k. This is the main permanent area of the world and is generally protected during world trims.

🌲 Between 10k–20k

Established players may build here for specific projects, but areas may be reset to generate new biomes and terrain. Admins must have the coordinates of anything that needs to be preserved. Inquire with an admin before building in this area!

⛏️ Beyond 20k

Anything beyond 20k will be reset during world trims. This makes it perfect for large-scale resource gathering. Clear forests, demolish mountains, steal all the sand. Go nuts. Do not build anything beyond 20k that you aren't willing to lose.

🏑 Found Your Base?

Once you've chosen the location for your first base:

  1. Place your bed and set your spawn point
  2. Let the @Mole People know you've settled on a location
  3. We'll update your permissions to allow you to break blocks

From there, you're fully set up and ready to start building!

πŸ’‘ Why the Permission Steps?

MoleCraft is a long-term world with a lot of player builds, infrastructure, and history. The onboarding process gives you an opportunity to learn your way around and find your place in the world while helping us protect everything that's already been built.

Take your time, explore, and find somewhere that inspires you.

Welcome to MoleCraft! πŸ¦”
